How to set up goals
Below where it says ‘My Team’ is a menu with five options. To access goals or objectives from your dashboard, click the third tab that says ‘Goals’. This will take you to the ‘My Team’s Goals and Questions’ section.
In the ‘Goals & Objectives’ section at the bottom, you’ll find three buttons. For now, click the blue ‘Create New’ button. Clicking it will bring up the ‘Add Objective or Goal’ menu.
You’ll see three options available, but for now, select ‘Team Goal’. You’ll have the option to add sub-goals. You have the option to add sub-goals. If you plan on setting any individual goals that might relate to this, you’ll want to choose ‘Yes’ when it asks if you want to add them. Whether you choose to add them or not, you’ll be presented with the second section of this menu.
It’s important to always make sure your goal descriptions are clear and concise. Below the description are four boxes: Unit, baseline, target, and target date.
The ‘Unit’ box lets you choose from numbers, percentages, pounds, and dollars. For the purpose of this example we want to track the pieces of Zendesk documentation being produced, and so regular numbers would be best.
The ‘Baseline’ refers to any work that might have already been put into a goal before it was formally created on Weekly10. Let’s assume we’ve just started our documentation work, and select zero for the baseline.
Next, we specify our target number. As we have broadly categorised our Zendesk documents into three sections (employee, manager and administrator), we’ll set three as our target.
Then we have to choose a date. When you click the ‘Target Date’ box, you can either type your date manually, or click your desired date through the virtual calendar box. Finally, you can choose to add the goal to your ‘personal goals & objectives’ section. This is useful if you plan to directly contribute to the team goal.
When you’ve made your selections, click the ‘Save’ button in the bottom right. Back on the ‘My Team’s Goals and Questions’ page, you’ll be able to see your new goal.
Updating a goal
You can update goals on Weekly10 without having to delete them and start over. To do this, click the third button in the row to the right of your goal. This will bring up the ‘Update Objective or Goal’ menu. Once you’re happy with the changes, click the blue ‘Update’ button in the bottom right.
Viewing the goals of your team members
As a manager, you can view any goals your team members have. To do this, go back to your dashboard. The bottom section contains the ‘Team Overview’. To the right of a team member’s name is a goals tracker in the form of a percentage with a circle around it. Click the percentage.
This will take you to that team member’s profile. The section we’re looking for is at the bottom of the profile page.
Here you can see personal goals for this team member, as well as the questions set to appear on their regular check-in. By clicking the tab to the right of this one, ‘Org/Team Goals’, you can see which team objectives this employee is a part of.
To the right of the personal goal are three buttons. The tick button marks the goal as complete. The graph button in the middle allows you to view responses, and the button on the right is for editing the goal.
