Slack is a direct messaging service with browser functionality and a desktop app. It allows users to set up workspaces for their projects, as well as specific messaging channels within those workspaces. It’s great for making sure your email inbox doesn’t get overfilled by team communication.
Once you’ve created an account, you’ll need to set up a workspace. Just click ‘Launch Slack’ in the top right corner, and then click ‘Create a new workspace’.
On the next screen, you’ll just have to enter the email address you signed up to Slack with.
You’ll then be emailed a six digit code to enter on this screen.
Then you’ll need to enter your company name, followed by the project name.
Next, you’ll want to invite your team members to use the workspace. For each email you enter, another box will appear, so you can invite as many people as you want from this screen. Of course, you can also add people later at any time.
Once you’ve added any team mates, or skipped that for now, you can take a look at your new workspace.
And there you have it, everything you need to get started on Slack. Your workspace is up and running, ready for you to add new team members at your leisure.
Now your workspace is set up, you can add Weekly10 functionality to it. At the very bottom of Slack’s homepage is a ‘Resources’ section.
Click ‘App Directory’. This will bring up a search box.
Clicking ‘Add to Slack’ will take you to the ‘Slack’ section of the Weekly10 website. Underneath a short description is another ‘Add to Slack’ button.
You’ll be taken to this page of Slack’s website, where you can see the information that Slack will share with Weekly10. If all of this is acceptable, click ‘Allow’. Now the Weekly10 app should be running on your workspace.
