Introduction
When an employee submits a check-in, managers receive a notification and are invited to review the check-in.

Required role: Manager
When employees submit their check-ins, you'll get notifications. Depending on the settings at your organization, these could be via email or notifications in Microsoft Teams. Follow the link in the notification to review check-ins.
You can also review check-ins via:
- The To Do section in My Team > Dashboard. Select the relevant check-in to open it.
- The View option in the Last Check-in column of the Team Overview table in My Team > Dashboard. If you've already reviewed a check in, Up to date is displayed in this column instead of View. To view their most recent check-in, hover over Up to date then select View.
- The employee's Profile page. From the Team Overview table in My Team > Dashboard, hover over n days ago on the right-hand side then select View User Profile and Updates (the person icon). On the Check-in History tab of the employee's Profile page, you see all previous check-ins the employee submitted. Select View for the relevant check-in.
Review a check-in
On the opened page, you'll see all the check-in responses. If you or your organization have set goals or OKRs for your employees, you'll see their progress towards them.
1. Review each response, and progress against any goals and OKRs (if set).
2. React to any responses or progress. You can react by:
- Liking their response (giving a 'thumbs up'). Select Like this response (the thumbs up icon) to show you acknowledge their response and where you feel no additional feedback is required.
- Replying directly to their response to acknowledge it or make a general comment. Select Add a comment on this response (the speech bubble icon) and enter a reply to show that you're listening to your people.
- Passing up their response to your manager (if your employee hasn't marked it as private). Select Share this response (the arrow icon) > Pass up to share parts of your employee's check-in with your line manager. This could be to highlight a great piece of work, share an idea, give credit to your direct report, or raise a concern.
- Passing across their response to your manager (if your employee hasn't marked it as private). Select Share this response (the arrow icon) > Pass across to share parts of your employee's check-in with other managers. This could be to highlight great team work, share an idea, or raise a concern with a head of department.
When you leave a comment, the employee will receive a notification and have the option to comment back.
When you pass up or pass across a response, the employee will receive a notification.
3. Review any attachments that employees upload to support their answers, and their progress with goals and OKRs (if set).
4. For number-based responses, select View answer history to track how their response to this question has changed over a period of time. Such analysis can help you to identify trends.
5. When you provide feedback on progress towards goals, you can choose to complete and close them. If you close a goal, it won't be displayed on future check-ins. To close a goal and hide it from future check-ins, select Close this goal.
